Minister Kimberly McGuire
Kim
has always had a love for 3 things: God, family, and education.
As a young child, she always strived to be the best at everything
she did. As a straight A student throughout her educational career,
she understood the importance of being the best, especially because
she was a Black female.
In 1994, she graduated with honors from Bay Shore High School.
From there, she went on to Suffolk Community College, where she
majored in Early Childhood Education. After graduating in 1997,
she decided to take some time off. It was then that she started
her family, which has grown into 5 children (4 boys and 1 girl).
The year 2002 was one of the most memorable of all in her life.
In that year, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational
Management from Nyack College. Most importantly, she accepted her
call into the preaching ministry and in June of that year, she was
licensed at the Antioch Baptist Church by Rev. Marvin Bentley to
preach the gospel. Her life has never been the same since.
Children have always played an important role in her life. Since
high school, she has tutored and mentored children of all ages and
stages of development. Because of this love and devotion, she and
her husband started Kadium’s After School in June 2004. Housed at
Antioch, the program is geared toward children who need a safe place
to go after school. While there, they receive homework help, nutritious
snacks, 1-on-1 private tutoring, piano lessons and recreational
activities. She has been significant in shaping the lives of children
throughout Long Island and New York City.
Some of her academic accolades include:
- Being listed in Who’s Who in American High Schools (1994)
- Being listed in Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges (1996)
- Graduating with honors from Suffolk Community College (1997)
- Graduating with honors from Nyack College (2002)
Currently, Kim is a pre-school teacher at A Child’s Place Day School.
She attends Antioch Baptist Church, where she serves on the ministerial
staff and the music department. She resides in Brentwood, NY, with
her husband, Steve, and their children—SaVon, Narkim, DiAndre, Darius,
and Nia.
