Rev. Patricia Haggler
Rev. Patricia Haggler was born in Bridgeton,
New Jersey and grew up in Pennsylvania. She received her early
religious training at the Shiloh Baptist Church
in Carlisle, Pa. under the tutelage of her father, the late
Rev. Joseph H. Haggler, Jr.
She received her high school education at a private co-educational school, Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, North Carolina where she graduated salutatorian of her high school class. She attained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Pace University, New York, New York, Master of Arts Degree in Religion and Education and Master of Divinity Degree both from Union Theological Seminary, New York City. In September 1996, Rev. Haggler, under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Marvin J. Bentley, became the first woman licensed to teach and preach the gospel by the Antioch Baptist Church of Corona, Queens, New York.
Rev. Haggler, an ordained American Baptist Churches-U.S.A. clergyperson, is presently a Ph.D. candidate at New York University, Assistant Pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church of Corona and Dean of the Antioch Bible Institute. She is a contributing author to the Wisdom and Grace Devotional Bible for Young Women of Color, a faculty member of the Antioch Bible Institute and an adjunct professor at the College of New Rochelle and New York Theological Seminary. Her other activities include participation in the Corona-East Elmhurst Clergy Association, American Baptist Churches-Metro New York for whom she has conducted workshops and facilitated their Leadership Development Program, one of the organizers of the Laurinburg Institute Alumni and Friends Group and a spokesperson sharing the history of and being an advocate for the four surviving historically black boarding schools in the United States. She is the mother of Alicia and Earl and grandmother of Alexis, Asia, Amar and Amari.
One of her favorite scriptures is Philipians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," because it is God's strength and power which sustains her to meet all of life's challenges.
